Steve Dixon has been waiting years for this. Years of bouncing around in the minors, years of trying to come back from shoulder surgery and finding his passion for the game again. It all led to being called up to make his Major League debut for the Nashville Notes. There’s pressure and nerves, and Steve just wants to have a quiet drink and try to forget about his looming debut. Instead, he finds Mason, a bartender with a lopsided smile.

What Steve doesn’t realize is that Mason is actually Mason Rollans – Nashville’s catcher. Mason’s had good career – 15 seasons, more awards than he knows what to do with, and only one ex-wife – but there’s one trophy, one achievement, that’s missing . And he’s running out of time, because all the love for the game in his heart can’t help his aching knees. But maybe the rookie that walked into his bar could be the key to making Mason’s World Series dreams come true.

The second half of the season is where teams get tested. It’s when heroes rise, rookies prove themselves, and the relationship between a pitcher and his catcher can be stretched and pushed to its limits.
